Quick Reference: Settings> Account Tags> Add Tag

Note that Tags are about grouping leads & clients where as Status dispositions are more about where the lead or client is in the work process. For example, you could have a lead with a status of New Lead with tags of Upsell To Life or Needs Annual Review.

We now have Analytics tables which are super powered custom data fields. We recommend them instead of tags now for Lead Sources, Marketing Campaigns, Language Preferences and other data points that are 'select one from dropdown options' and will be used for reporting and automations on a regular basis.

Tags are are now the catch all for anything that you want to have as a grouping that is not a Status, Coverage Type, Analytic Field.

We also recommend having a tag of Deceased (it's already in as a default). The use for this would be to tag all people who have passed away as Deceased so that you can exclude them from automated workflows & mass emails by using the "NOT TAGGED WITH" option in those features. We still advise marking them as Status of Deceased as well, but the Not Tagged With is the quickest way to exclude people from mass marketing.
